You can't make this stuff up.. hahahahahahahah

Athens Banner-Herald Story updated at 11:24 pm on 2/23/2009

A woman tried to run down her boyfriend with a car Sunday morning after she accused him of wanting to skip church so he could be with another woman, Athens-Clarke police said.
Annie Knox, 19, drove straight at her boyfriend in the parking lot of their home in 100 block of Carriage Court, and the man jumped on the hood of a parked car to avoid getting hit, police said.
Knox then drove over grass and onto a sidewalk as she continued to follow the man, according to police. Knox, 19, was charged with aggravated assault, police said

What is the issue here ???

I was reading my paper this morning and I came across this story in the Banner Herald about the non profit group "Angel Food Ministeries" that is being investigated by the FBI and IRS for paying themselves too much of a salary to run the organization. In the story they make reference to SPREADING AROUND THE MONEY and I think they are pissed because they gave the most money to the republicans. They seem to be making a fuss that they (angel food ministeries) donated money to several "Conservative" campaigns over the last few years and one group that supported a democrat and I think they are making a bigger deal of the contributions they made, then to what they may have done illegally with the non profit funds. I have done a little research and can't really find out if this is illegal or not (donating to politicians). From what I have read its not really clear ?? If they make the donations in their own name and not the organization it does not seem to be illegal. However, if they made them in the non profits group name then yes there may be a problem. But, if you read the story in the online Athens link I have for you, it tells who they donated to. As you see it is all Republican candidates and they make sure to note that after every name. I think that is the REAL issue, that they didn't donate to any other party.... but, from my experience Christians generally are not liberals, so why donate to a party to whom you don't share their beliefs with ???????? To me, this is just another attempt to but blame on anyone who doesn't go with the liberal thinking of the news media, including the newspapers !!!!! This is just my thoughts !!

This from Wikipedia is all I could find on non profits donating or participating
in political campaigns.
Political Campaign Interventions

Organizations described in section 501(c)(3) are prohibited from conducting political campaign activities to intervene in elections to public office. [1] The Internal Revenue Service website elaborates upon this prohibition as follows:

"Under the Internal Revenue Code, all section 501(c)(3) organizations are absolutely prohibited from directly or indirectly participating in, or intervening in, any political campaign on behalf of (or in opposition to) any candidate for elective public office. Contributions to political campaign funds or public statements of position (verbal or written) made on behalf of the organization in favor of or in opposition to any candidate for public office clearly violate the prohibition against political campaign activity. Violating this prohibition may result in denial or revocation of tax-exempt status and the imposition of certain excise taxes

"Certain activities or expenditures may not be prohibited depending on the facts and circumstances. For example, certain voter education activities (including presenting public forums and publishing voter education guides) conducted in a non-partisan manner do not constitute prohibited political campaign activity. In addition, other activities intended to encourage people to participate in the electoral process, such as voter registration and get-out-the-vote drives, would not be prohibited political campaign activity if conducted in a non-partisan manner.

"On the other hand, voter education or registration activities with evidence of bias that (a) would favor one candidate over another; (b) oppose a candidate in some manner; or (c) have the effect of favoring a candidate or group of candidates, will constitute prohibited participation or intervention.

"The Internal Revenue Service provides resources to exempt organizations and the public to help them understand the prohibition. As part of its examination program, the IRS also monitors whether organizations are complying with the prohibition."

Some of you prob don't know that I was a career firefighter for several years and also an EMT. This story I am about to share just made my day. You often wonder, in this line of work, what ever happened to ??? You know the lady who fell at the store or the man you cut out of a car on the interstate? Where did they end up? Or the kid who crashed his four wheeler on the farm? How are they today?

This story is of such a reunion some 40 years later. Great story!! Thought I would share and say thanks to all the fellow firefighter in the world!

Inexperience?

I was reading on MSN.COM and I came across this story and was I astonished to find out that our President is having problems due to inexperience.... We knew this months ago when everyone understood his experience was nothing more then running a neighborhood. So why is this making news now? And that comment of ON-THE-JOB training... these are things most people that I know had hit on months ago....... This article just bothered me, like its an excuse now, that he doesn't know what the heck he's doing. Anyway, I think this is a train wreck waiting to happen........

Obama may learn from slips on stimulus

On his first big test, the new president made some rookie mistakes
By TOM RAUM
updated 12:28 p.m. ET, Sun., Feb. 8, 2009

WASHINGTON - On his first big test, Barack Obama made some rookie mistakes and strategic missteps. But he still appears headed for a win on the centerpiece of his agenda, a huge economic recovery program, with the fresh striking of a bipartisan deal in the Senate.

Legislative leaders, including some fellow Democrats who support him, chalked up his problems to inexperience and some initial miscalculations over the lack of GOP support, and they suggest he'll learn from the rocky start.

Americans have learned, too, a little about how their new president works He's swung from being conciliatory to badgering Congress to act, from courting the opposition to taking partisan swipes. He's had to fight to keep from losing control of the message. And all this is playing out against a background of Cabinet problems, economic distress and global distractions.

Could have made it easier
Some veteran Democrats say Obama could have made it easier for himself.

"I think it is important that he reached out. But lesson learned: It would have been better for him to send up his idea of a bill," instead of having House Democratic leaders initiate the process, said Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif.

Leaders of both parties agree the nation's slumping economy requires strong stimulus, an argument reinforced by a government report showing soaring new job losses. Obama will likely get most of what he wants. On the job under three weeks, he still has a large reservoir of good will on Capitol Hill.

But things haven't gone quite the way the new Obama team expected. It's been a rough two weeks of on-the-job training on the legislative process from the other end of Pennsylvania Avenue for the former one-term Illinois senator.

"You know, it's referred to as sausage-making and probably for good reason," said White House spokesman Robert Gibbs.

Still, Obama aides claimed they were satisfied with the results, given the enormity of the challenge. "In a matter of weeks, we moved through both houses of Congress a very complex piece of legislation," Obama senior adviser David Axelrod said Saturday in an interview. "I don't know if there is a parallel in history."

"AND I QUOTE "

"What do you think a stimulus is?" Obama asked incredulously. "It’s spending — that's the whole point! Seriously.”

This just smacks ya in the face doesn't it???
In this story (see link below for whole story) President Obama is upset that the "republicans" do not like his stimulus plan and attacks them in his speech. Personally I think they(republicans) are trying to stick up for the people that are going to have to pay for all this "STIMULUS"

http://news.yahoo.com/s/politico/20090206/pl_politico/18482

His closing statement, take note of it, which means you have to read the whole story, I think, in one sentence sums it up for everyone, he stated that he was "grateful and humbled" to be the leader of their party.

THEIR PARTY????? shouldn't he be proud to be the leader of the entire country and all this mess ???? hummmm wonder where his loyalty lies?

College ???

I think I have gotten stupider, is that a word???

Well, anyway I have gone back to school for the 4th time in my life and I think I went stupid somewhere along the way.
I have an extensive medical background, not like a doctor, but in the FIRE / EMS sorta medical training.

I have been over the last ten years a certified First Responder, EMTB, EMTI, and several quarters toward my paramedic. I was also a certified Firefighter, certified in HAZMAT operations and a Driver Engineer for a local fire dept..... yet I cant seem to get a grasp on this test that I have re taken twice now!!! and it is in a basic healthcare class....
&*%#@$@&)@#*)& (^*%&$^$^
I mean come on... I have done this with eyes closed for years.
Never made a bad grade until this class.

Woman Claimed Arson Arrested

This story ran the week of January 19, 2009 in the North Ga area.
A woman claimed her home was set afire because of her support for
our now President Obama.

Read the following story from
The Forsyth County Newspaper, Feb 5,2009
and from FOX5 Atlanta
that ran today.
Makes me wonder, would some one actually do this?

What did she hope to accomplish if they really did set this fire? I just can't wrap
my head around why people do these things........

A woman who lost her house in suspicious fire Jan. 18 could be charged in connection with the blaze as early as Friday, authorities said.

Pam Graf, 47, remained Thursday at the Forsyth County Detention Center, where she has been held since the Forsyth County Fire Explosives Investigative Unit arrested her on felony and misdemeanor drug charges Tuesday night.

Forsyth County Fire Marshal Steve Anderson said Graf was arrested after a search of her hotel room and vehicle Tuesday.

“We do have a lot of evidence and a lot of it is documents and financials and all that,” Anderson said. “It just takes time to go through it.”

In the meantime, Graf faces several drug possession charges, including having less than one ounce of marijuana, cocaine with intent to distribute and Schedule 3 and Schedule 4 narcotics.

The fire that destroyed her five-bedroom home at 8085 Lanier Drive in northeastern Forsyth was ruled arson within a week after it happened.

Fire officials have described Graf and her boyfriend, Steve Edward Strobel, as suspects.

Authorities arrested Strobel on Tuesday night at his home in Barrow County. Graf was arrested at the Comfort Suites hotel on Hwy. 20 where she had been staying since the fire.

Strobel, 46, faces charges of obstruction of justice and providing a false statement in connection with the fire investigation. Both he and Graf are being held without bond.

Graf’s father, William Morrow, said he learned about his daughter's arrest and suspicion in the fire from a friend Wednesday afternoon.

“I’m just shocked, just absolutely shocked,” said Morrow, who also lives on Lanier Drive, not far from his daughter's former home.

Morrow said he did not know if Graf has retained a lawyer and declined to comment further.

Graf was not home when the fire occured. She told authorities she and Strobel left Jan. 16 for the presidential inauguration in Washington, D.C., and came back Jan. 19 after learning about the fire.

But Anderson said investigators have not been able to verify her story.

“There’s just no proof that we can confirm,” he said, adding that Graf and Strobel say they drove to the nation's capital and camped in a van.

Anderson said investigators have been unable to develop evidence to eliminate Graf as a suspect, despite her contention she was targeted because of her support for President Barack Obama.

The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office is also investigating graffiti someone spray-painted on a fence along Graf’s property that included a racial slur and the phrase “your black boy will die.”

Anderson said he thinks the fire and graffiti are connected.

Graf has said she received a threatening note in her mailbox after the New Year’s Day holiday.

She has said she didn’t report it to authorities because she didn't take it seriously. She did, however, remove an Obama campaign sign from her yard. Another sign disappeared before the presidential election on Nov. 4.

She may not have reported the note, but sheriff’s reports show Graf has been involved in at least nine documented incidents since September 2006.

Those incidents include a report of her home being burglarized and complaints against her for criminal trespassing and loitering and prowling.

She has also been accused of shoplifting, the reports show, and also has reported her car and checkbook stolen.

In addition, she and an incarcerated ex-boyfriend have filed complaints against each other for harassing communications. Graf maintains she has a restraining order against the man.

Neighbors reported that Graf had been trying to sell her 3,000-square-foot home near Lake Lanier.

She dismissed those accounts, however, saying she put up a for sale sign over the summer in order to teach a lesson to her three children, ages 11, 14 and 17.

According to Forsyth County Superior Court records, the children live with their father.

Anderson said Graf did try to sell her house, but it was not on the market at the time of the fire, which occurred about 4:30 a.m. Jan. 18.

Forsyth County Fire Capt. Jason Shivers said several residents called 911 the morning of the blaze.

“There were calls from neighbors in close proximity and calls from those some distance away who were seeing the flames through the trees and not sure where it was,” Shivers said. “So there were multiple calls and multiple callers advising various locations also.”

Shivers said none of the calls came from the house, which was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters got there.
Forsyth County tax records list the value of the home at $255,490.

State Farm insurance company and the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives have been participating in the investigation. The FBI also monitored the case as it developed, authorities said.

CUMMING, Ga. - Forsyth County fire investigators have arrested a woman who claimed her house was set on fire because she supported President Barack Obama on unrelated charges.
